Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Pastry brush
  • Rolling Pin
  • Sharp knife or pastry cutter
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Cooling rack
  • Optional: Heart-shaped cookie cutter

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 3 tbsp raspberry or strawberry jam
  • 1-2 drops pink food coloring (optional)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Puff Pastry
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until smooth and pliable.
  • Make the Pink Filling
Mix raspberry or strawberry jam with pink food coloring if desired for a vibrant hue.
  • Shape the Croissants
Cut the pastry into 6 triangles.Spread a thin layer of the pink filling on each triangle, leaving the edges clean.Roll each triangle from the base toward the tip, then curve the ends inward to form a heart shape.
  • Apply the Egg Wash
Whisk the egg and brush it lightly over the croissants for a golden, glossy finish.
  • Bake
Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Place the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  • Garnish and Serve
Let the croissants cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries or other sides. Enjoy warm! 🍓✨

Notes

  • Use Cold Pastry:
Keep the puff pastry cold while shaping. If it gets too warm, refrigerate for 10-15 minutes before baking to maintain flakiness. ❄️
  • Avoid Overfilling:
Use a thin layer of filling to prevent it from oozing out during baking.
  • Extra Flaky Layers:
Brush a light layer of melted butter between pastry folds for extra flaky layers. 🧈
  • Custom Fillings:
Experiment with other fillings like Nutella, cream cheese, or lemon curd for variety. 🍫🍋
  • Drizzle Decor:
Add a finishing touch with a chocolate or berry glaze drizzle for a visually stunning dessert. ✨
